Women entrepreneurship research in Türkiye: a bibliometric analysis

This study performs a bibliometric analysis of postgraduate theses concerning women entrepreneurship in Türkiye. The research utilises bibliometric techniques for analysis. The data source comprises 197 theses that include the term ‘female entrepreneur,’ sourced from the records at the Council of Higher Education’s National Thesis Centre in Türkiye. An exclusion criterion was set for theses without publication permission in the database (those not accessible in full text), leading to the exclusion of 3 theses (n = 3). Consequently, the remaining theses (n = 194) were evaluated based on several factors, including thesis type, publication year, thesis author’s gender, thesis advisor’s title, affiliated university, primary science branch, publication language, research methodology, sample, data collection method, topic, and keywords. The findings provide a detailed assessment of postgraduate research on women entrepreneurship in Türkiye, expected to assist female entrepreneurs, academics, and the wider society in appreciating the progress of women entrepreneurship within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and to contribute to further research in this area.
