THE RELATIONSHIPSAMONG AGILITY, SPEED, ANAEROBIC POWER, AND UPPER EXTREMITY STRENGTHIN YOUNG HANDBALL PLAYERS

Research in Sport Education and Sciences · Haziran 2020

Özet
The aim of the study was to investigate relationships among upper extremity strength, anaerobic power, sprint, agility in young handball players. 20 young male handball players voluntarily participated in the study. Handball players were measured with vertical jump, 20 m speed, pro agility, hand grip force and medicine ball launch. The normal distribution analysis were made with Shapiro-Wilk test. 'Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation' was performed for normally distributed data, and 'Spearman’s Row Correlation Coefficient' for nonparametric data. Sprint compared to with agility, medicine ball throw and rigth-left hand grip tests, it was found significant relationship (respectively: rho= .954, rho=-.786, rho=-.660, rho=-.620, p<0.01). But was not found relationship among sprint, body mass index (BMI) and anaerobik power (p>0.05). When anaerobik power had been compared with others values, was found a moderate positive correlation with BMI (r = .694, p <0.01), moderate negative relationship with agility (r =-.477, p <0.05), throwing a medicine ball, right hand and left hand grip force values (r = .807, p <0.01; .868, p <0.01; r = .871, p <0.01, respectively). As a conclusion, we can assume that maintaining the skills gained throughout the season with the training of young handball players in the well-planned training programs of lower and upper limb muscle strength will affect the performance development of the players in a positive way.
