Regulation of circadian for enhancing abiotic stress tolerance in wheat

Özet
The circadian clock is a timekeeper that may govern biological processes throughout a 24-h period. The clock’s ability to temporally gate reactions to environmental stimuli is enhanced when the internal circadian time is properly synchronized with the environment. Circadian gating outlines an effective technique to boost stress resistance without significantly reducing plant development by limiting the period of peak response. In this chapter, we have discussed about the circadian clock’s general mechanism, its linkage with different abiotic factors, its response in different monocot plants, and finally, clock-mediated gene responses under abiotic stress in wheat. Till now, most of the Arabidopsis clock genes, viz. PRR family genes, TOC1, LUX, CK2a, etc., homologs are found in wheat. This information may provide scientists to work more on this area and will develop climate-resilient high-yielding wheat varieties.
