Anatomical and Morphological Characteristics of Endemic Barbarea platycarpa and Barbarea integrifolia (Brassicaceae) Species
Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology · Haziran 2026
Özet
In this study, the anatomical and morphological characteristics of Barbarea platycarpa and B. integrifolia species belonging to the genus Barbarea (Brassicaceae) were examined. In the morphological studies, taxonomically significant stem, leaf, flower, and fruit characteristics of both species were measured, and comprehensive descriptions were prepared based on the obtained data. In the anatomical studies, sections of the root, stem, and leaves were taken using a microtome or manually, and the anatomical features of the species were presented comparatively. Morphologically, they differ in habitat, stem structures, basal and cauline leaves, and fruit orientation. Anatomically, they show differences in the number of cortex cell layers in the root, presence of sclereids in the cortex, occurrence of sclerenchyma tissue in the central cylinder, number of epidermal cell layers and presence of collenchyma in the stem, number of cortex cell layers, and characteristics of the pith region.
