The Impact of Digital Transformation on Employee Well- Being and Work Performance

While digitalisation is rapidly transforming business processes; robotics, artificial intelligence and digital tools are reshaping business organisation. Rapid technological advances require employees to adapt quickly to new technologies. New ways of working, new approaches to employment, and constantly changing labour market conditions make this adaptation difficult. In such an environment, the impact of workplace digitalisation on employee well- being has become even more important. Since both job satisfaction and life satisfaction determines the performance at work, this section will assess the impact of the opportunities and risks brought about by digitalisation on the well- being of employees. The digitalisation of the workplace can affect employees’ subjective well- being through various channels, such as work motivation and engagement, job commitment and digital transformation stress. This chapter examines all these channels and attempt to determine their impact on employees.
