An Exploration of the Levels of Family Belonging and Violent Tendency in Adolescents

This study investigates the relationship between family belonging and violent tendencies among 1,153 adolescents (616 females, 537 males). Data were collected using the Family Belonging Scale and the Violence Tendency Scale and analyzed using the independent samples t-test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression. The results indicated that gender (male), witnessing violence at school and experiencing violence in the family and family belonging were predictors of violent tendency. Consequently, it is recommended that risk factors increasing violent tendencies be assessed holistically, and that efforts be made to strengthen the bond between adolescents and their families.
