Head and neck hemangiopericytoma: Case report

Hemangiopericytoma is a rare vascular tumor. Hemangiopericytoma accounts for about %1 of all vascular tumors. Hemangiopericytoma was first described in 1942 by Stout and Murray. Hemangiopericytoma takes its origin from the pericapillary pericytic cells. The avarage age was 45 years. The sex distribution shows a predominance of women. Hemangiopericytoma may arise anywhere. The most common locations are the lower extremities and the pelvis. Its incidence in the head and neck is %16-33. In this site, it mostly affects paranasal sinuses. Clinical and radiographic findings are non-specific. Hemangiopericytoma usually evolves with slow and non-painful growing mass. Complete surgical resection is the mainstay of treatment. The aim of this case report is which should be kept in mind in the differantial diagnosis of neck masses especially in women.
