The comparison of introvesical chemotherapy and immunotherapy in superficial bladder tumors
Bulletin of Gulhane Military Medical Academy · Ocak 1994
Özet
In superficial malignancies of bladder, the tumor recurrence rates were compared with the side effects, rates of recurrence and progressions. There were 63 cases. For the first 12 months, the progression rates of 54 %, 74 % and 82 % were achieved with Thio-tepa, Epirubicin and BCG respectively. The earliest recurrence has been determined by Thio-tepa with a mean of 6.2 months. The rates recurrence of all chemotherapeutics was 7.8 months by BCG. The principal side effect was vesical irritability (82 % by BCG, the most common, and 61 % by Thio-tepa the least common). As a result, although its high irritability symptoms, it is observed that the intravesical BCG applications is more effective treatment for decreasing the rate of recurrence.
