The Effect of Kinesio Tape Application on Back Pain, Breastfeeding Success and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Levels in Mothers: A Protocol of Randomized Controlled Trial

The purpose of this protocol study is to present a study design that will examine the effect of Kinesio Tape (KT) application on back pain, breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy in breastfeeding mothers. The research was planned in a single-center, single-blind, parallel group randomized controlled experimental design, and the research will be carried out in accordance with SPIRIT. The sample of the study will consist of mothers who have babies aged 0-6 months and continue active breastfeeding. The sample size of the study was determined according to power analysis (n=60), and the mothers will be randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group (n=30), to which KT will be applied, and the control group (n=30), to which placebo KT will be applied. KT with tension and angle will be applied to the mothers in the experimental group, and plain taping without angle and tension will be applied to the mothers in the control group, with the same type of KT as the experimental group, twice a week for two weeks. Three measurements will be taken from the mothers Before taping, on the 7th and 14th days with the Visual Analog Pain Scale, LATCH Breastfeeding Diagnosis and Evaluation Scale and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale.
