Buldan fabrics produced by manual looms

Just like nutrition and shelter, weaving has been of great importance for human beings since ancient times. Today, gaining characteristic features in many different parts of Anatolia, the çarpana tradition is trying to survive in the form of combed weaving and shuttled weaving. Buldan is one of the centers where these kinds of weaving are practiced. However, as a result of technological development, mass production is becoming widespread in Buldan. Today, kamaçili hand-weaving benches are being replaced by engine-driven mechanical ones. One can classify the Buldan weavings into two groups, pieces and bales, according to intended form of usage. Lower or higher hand-weaving benches of types such as straight (plain) and kamaçili are used in the region.
