Sleep Regulation and Nursing Interventions in Newborns: A Bibliometric Analysis
Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences · Temmuz 2026
Özet
Objective: This study aims to analyze the global literature on newborn sleep management and nursing interventions using bibliometric methods to identify research trends and gaps. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science Core Collection. The search strategy employed keywords related to sleep management, newborns, and nursing. Data from 1986 to 2023 were evaluated quantitatively. Initially, 230 publications were identified; after excluding incomplete 2024 data (n=10), non-English articles (n=8), and studies unrelated to nursing interventions during manual screening (n=43), the final analysis was performed on 169 original research articles. Results: The findings reveal a significant body of literature spanning 37 years. The United States is the leading contributor, with the highest number of publications (n=80) and citations (n=2569). “Newborn” and “sleep” were the most frequent keywords, while “Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)” emerged as a dominant research theme. Pediatrics (n=8) is the most prominent journal in the field. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric study specifically focusing on nursing-led newborn sleep management. The results highlight a critical need for more intervention-oriented nursing research globally.
