Treatment of Skeletal Class II Patient with RME-Twinblock Appliance: A Case Report
Selcuk Dental Journal · Haziran 2023
Özet
Skeletal Class II malocclusions are often characterized by maxillary prognathia, mandibular retrognathia, or a combination of both. Functional appliances are frequently applied after rapid maxillary expansion in children with Class II division 1 malocclusion accompanied by a transverse maxillary deficiency at the onset of pubertal excretion. The aim of this case report is to present the treatment of a patient with skeletal Class II malocclusion with rapid maxillary expansion(RME) and twinblock appliance. A female patient with a chronological age of 11-years and 8-months applied to our clinic with the complaint that her upper teeth were forward and her lower jaw was behind. A twinblock appliance with RME was used in the treatment of the patient. Functional treatment with the Twinblok appliance lasted for 12 months. Then fixed orthodontic treatment was started. Total treatment period was 2-years and 3-months. Ideal Angle Class I closure was achieved at the end of the treatment. An impressive improvement was observed in the patient's profile, and ideal lip closure was achieved.
