Embryo culture of Hasanbey apricot CV

Embryos of Hasanbey apricot cv. from Erzincan provinces were cultured on MS media containing 0.0, 0.1, 1.0, and 2.0 mg/1 BA and 0.0 and 0.1 mg/1 NAA with 15 day intervals starting from the 30th day after full blossoming. Germination percentages and embryo growth were determined. Embryos taken on the 30th day at anthesis achieved 11.11% germination on MS media free of hormones whereas full germination was recorded on media containing 1.0+0.0, 1.0+0.1, 2.0+0.0, and 2.0+0.1 mg/1 BA+NAA. At later stages, germination increased in media free of hormones, but decreased on hormon treated media. On the 90th day 89.89% germination was recorded on hormon free media while 22.22% germination occurred in media with 2.0+0.1 mg/1 BA+NAA. The data suggest that hormones and the stage of the embryos were of importance to germination.
