Use of Avanos (Nevsehir) clay for engobe production

Factors influencing the color of engobed samples, using Avanos (Nevsehir) clay as a natural pigment, are identified by means of statistically designed experiments. To investigate the amounts of additive and additive type on color, a 3141 mixed-level factorial design was chosen. Color measurement was carried out using Minolta CM-3600d color measurement equipment. L*, a*, b* (color values) were analyzed using a Minitab 17 software program. It was found that the amounts of additive used were the main factor affecting all color values.
