The importance of lymphocyte enzyme profile, inclusion bodies in circulating leucocytes and conjunctival smear samples in the diagnosis on canine distemper virus infection

The diagnostic importance of canine distemper virus (CDV) inclusion bodies in the peripheral blood cells, serum CDV-specific IgG antibody titers, CDV antigens in the conjunctival smears and enzymatic positively of peripheral blood lymphocytes were investigated in the dogs with CDV infection induced experimentally. Inclusion bodies in the peripheral circulating neutrophiles, lymphocytes and eosinophiles were determined at all blood samples taken after 5th day of the experiment. CDV antigens in conjunctival smears taken on day 7, 9, 14, 20 and 35 of experiment were positive in all living dogs. Significant decrements in the lymphocyte AcP (p<0.001) and ANAE (p<0.001) enzyme positivities were observed in the blood smears taken from 2nd day of the experiment.
